Stop the Spinning…knobs!
So maybe I had one too many glasses of wine and the room is spinning…but that’s not what I’m talking about! So, you know those cabinet and vanity knobs you swear you keep tightening and they just won’t stay? Well, it’s not you, it’s them! Here’s the easy fix - just add a washer to make the screw securely tighten. Just to be clear, use this technique when you knob is spinning, not when your cabinet hinge keeps coming loose. Different problem; different post.
Investment
Money | Maybe free if you have a washer on hand!
Time | 5 minutes
Supplies*
Washer (see Amazon link for samples, but you can go to the local hardware store and buy a tiny package for less than $1)
Phillips screwdriver (or my favorite all-in-one Triplett!)
Steps
Remove problem knob from drawer or cabinet
Add one to two small washers on the screw you just removed; be sure to put them on the inside of the drawer or cabinet so you don’t see them from the front. You want to use the smallest size that still fits on screw. It doesn’t have to be snug to be effective, just something to add some length.
Replace knob. Don’t over tighten or you may strip the screw. If you have already stripped the screw, you might need to replace the knob. You can try some gorilla glue or super glue inside first.
