Frosted Windows
Maybe I missed the boat on this years ago, but seriously, I had no idea how easy (and cheap!) it is to buy window cling material and stick it on yourself! When I moved into my house there was outdated “stained glass” in the entry way that when I finally got the scaffolding up 20’ to remove it, literally came off in less than 10 seconds in one plastic piece! #done
Fast forward, there are three window pane doors in this house that are beautiful, but needed to have panes “frosted.” For $11, think about all the places you could frost…maybe a bathroom window and lose the outdated curtains? Maybe the side windows of your front door? Maybe a “middle strip” to make a living room more modern and offer moderate privacy? Maybe a temporary window for the holidays? Go to town ya’ll…this is fun!
Investment
Money | $11 ish
Time | 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on the project(s)
Supplies*
Squirt bottle of water
Credit card to apply & towels to absorb moisture
Scissors or exacto knife & straight edge
Ruler/tape measure
Steps
Clean your surface spotlessly. Applying this stuff is like putting on a cell phone screen protector - one tiny spec of dust is going to look 10x bigger once applied!
Measure area and cut product to exact size. Error on the side of being a tiny bit smaller.
Squirt surface with water. Don’t go crazy here, but you need a light mist across the entire surface.
Evenly pull back an inch or so of the backing of the film to position on surface. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to move this around, so just get started.
Remove rest of film. Position where you want cling to be.
Gently use credit card to squeeze water from underneath cling while using towel to absorb excess.
DONE!
Enjoy the Project
